As I was surfing through India blogs today I found bloghash which is also a technology related blog beautifully designed by Raj. In one of his posts he has suggested to use Process Lasso, which is a software utility capable of dynamically managing the priorities of processess running in the system. This tool dynamically lowers the priority of a process (temporarily) that consumes too many CPU cycles and gives a chance to other processes that may be in need of more CPU cycles. Such a dynamic management of processes virtually eliminates the possibility of your system getting stuck due to some runaway process.

The software is specially useful for computers with multiple processors wherein a program can be restricted to run on only a certain processor. In addition, Process Lasso offers capabilities such as default process priorities, default process CPU affinities, termination of disallowed processes, and logging of all executed processes.

Update on referring your users to sign up for AdSense

I received a mail from Adsense Team today at 2:30 am.

As part of ongoing efforts to optimize revenue opportunities for Adsense publishers, Google constantly experiments with new revenue-enhancing features as well as tweaking those products already available to Adsense publishers. This time its experimenting time for referral units directing visitors to sign up for AdSense. After experimenting with this program over the past year, Google concluded that there are other products that are of higher value than this program to Adsense publishers in their region. As a result, referral units for the AdSense program will be retired in the coming weeks. Referrals to other products and services remain unaffected.

If you're currently displaying referral units on your site directing users to sign up for AdSense, read on below for details about what to expect in the coming weeks.

In early January, the option to add referral units directing users to the AdSense product will no longer appear in your account. You will continue to accrue earnings for all existing referrals yet to generate $100 until late January, at which point the program will be fully retired. Existing referral units will continue to appear on your pages.

By the end of January, all adsense publishers should remove all referral units directing users to AdSense from their pages. Referral units which are not removed will still continue to display on pages as normal, but conversions will no longer be recorded. Google suggests all adsense publishers to replace their referral units with other products.

I suggest cancel all the units and change to some other adrevenue sharing programs.

Google Pumps Up iPhone Interface

In my Previous post we read about Google launches iPhone. Now Google has pumped up its interface for the Apple iPhone. It is now faster, more customizable, and supports iGoogle gadgets on the mobile phone. (Official details here). This should help Google see even more mobile traffic from the iPhone than it does already.

More significantly, with iGoogle integration, developers don’t have to wait for Apple to open up the iPhone to third-party apps. They can just create an iGoogle gadget instead. No wonder Google CEO Eric Schmidt keeps calm when he goes to Apple board meetings. He’s competing for the real estate on that tiny screen.

Google has released a specialised version of iGoogle for iPhone users. This optimised iGoogle page displays all the gadgets and feeds of a tab in a single column page with easy to scroll interface. With igoogle gadget or feed can be collapsed or expanded by just clicking on the header.
